Dr. Schwartz,
I took your EEL 3701 class about 9 years ago [in 2002], and I'd like to thank you for something you did. You had each student stop by your office for "Schmooze with Schwartz", and during that talk you suggested that I take my studies towards Electrical Engineering rather than pure Computer Science which I was doing at the time.
I ended up getting degrees in both Electrical and Computer Engineering, and honestly I can't thank you enough. Being able to understand all aspects of system design, from the circuits all the way up to Object-Oriented software has been invaluable in my career and continues to give me a competitive edge.
Thank you for being such a positive and forward-thinking influence!
Cheers,
