Machine Intelligence Laboratory

Started as a project in 1996, SubjuGator has gone through many redesigns. Both its mission and electronics have changed, requiring modification to the body. Eight prior visits to the AUVSI UUV competition has provided motivation and direction for improvements.

The following shows SubjuGator's past five designs. Note that even when the basic submarine design was not changed from one year to the next, much of the mechanical and electrical hardware was generally improved.

Used for the eighth competion and rebuilt for the ninth competition. For 2006 we rebuilt the SubjuGator with about 70% new parts. Almost all of the electronics was new, we had a new body, new hard points, new external electronics box and a new hydrophone array.
