Robot Creator Description Final Paper
Canary
Ken Anderson Canary looks for harmful electromagnetic radiation, if it finds any, it alerts nearby humans. canary.PDF
Mad Max
James Curlee Mad Max is an autonomous road raging mech vehicle designed to seek and destroy all enemies within its path. It uses infrared sensing to achieve obstacle avoidance and targeting. Once Mad Max has them in his sights, he blasts away the bad guys with a servo-controlled disc shooter packed with 12 rounds of foam discs. madmax.PDF
Sonar-bot
Dan Dufford Sonar-bot is an autonomous mobile robot built on a hacked RC truck. It utilizes 4 sonar transmitting stations placed around a room, coupled with an onboard receiver to do position locating, similar to a GPS system. Once sonar-bot's position in a room is known, it can execute complex behaviors like room mapping, floor mapping, pattern execution, and object mapping/retrieval. sonarbot.PDF

Sparky
Mike Gerhard Sparky is a four-legged friend that can walk around the house and avoid obstacles without a person controlling him. Sparky is based on its designer's economical approach to robotics. sparky.PDF

PieTin
John Juilfs PieTin is a nautical autonomous robot designed to work along with other nautical robots, in this case, Mark Schmidt's SeaCow. Thw two robots can communicate through an RF link, and can avoid obstacles in the water. pietin.PDF
Trip
Tony Padgett Trip is an autonomous biped walking robot. The focus of the desing is to incorporate an active balance control system using sensors in the feet and a swinging weight on the head. The robot is capable of forward and backward walking and some limited turning. trip.doc
IAM
Christopher Piroli IAM is an intelligent Autonomous Mapping robot. It makes use of a radio/sonar tracking system to find its location as it moves about its environment. Positions are marked as open or blocked and recorded in a matrix. When finished, this matrix will represent a map of the robot's surroundings. iam.wpd

Toro
Michael Reiser Toro is an autonomous robot bull. It uses an on-board color camera and PC to follow red objects. toro.pdf
SeaCow
Mark Schmidt SeaCow is an autonomous nautical robot designed to transport significant loads over the water without sacrificing much speed or agility. It will work along and communicate with John Juilfs's PieTin seacow.pdf
Dendrites
Jeff Wisgo Dendrites are four small robots that communicate simple messages to one another. They can play "tag" and other multi-robot activities. dendrites.pdf
Golfer
Wing Pan Yuen Golfer locates a golf ball. Then it positions itself to align the golf ball with the cup; finally, it puts the golf ball into the cup. Golfer also has the ability to avoid obstacles. golfer.pdf
