SubjuGator requires no human intervention to perform a variety
of underwater tasks, including visual servoing for manipulation, precise
torpedo firing, 3D tracking of acoustic pingers, mapping and localization,
and more. It does this all without the aid of GPS (a boon to many surface
robots), leveraging only its cameras and an acoustic sensor called a Doppler
Velocity Log. Subjugator estimates its state using an Unscented Kalman
Filter, fusing data from cameras, DVL, a barometric depth sensor and an IMU.
It also has an on-board pneumatic projectile launching system, a grabber, and
an apparatus for dropping payloads. |
